Outdoor Furniture: Cushions

When purchasing a cushion to go with your outdoor patio furniture, the most important step if your cushion will be outside all the time, is to ensure that the cushion is made with high quality, durable material that can handle being exposed to the outdoors. A standard cushion will be made with a durable acrylic fabric, which is resistant to mildew and fading from excessive sunlight. This is your safest bet for a durable, but still affordable addition to your outdoor furniture collection. Most cushions will be available in a multitude of colors, allowing you to easily make a selection that matches the rest of your outdoor furniture.

You should also test out your cushion before making a purchase to ensure that the cushion meets your comfort needs. The last thing you want is to make a purchase of any value, and then bring it home to find that it is not suited to you. If this should happen to you and you are unable to return the cushion, you could always cut it open, and fill it with shaving cream, allowing for some great fun to be had; just make sure that you do not place the cushion too close to the rest of your outdoor furniture.

It should also be noted that in many cases, your outdoor patio furniture will come equipped with cushions or padding already, meaning that you will not have to worry about buying a sepatate cushion. If you went cheap, and bought a plastic chair, or if you are a handyman and built yourself a nice wooden bench, then you could likely stand to buy a separate cushion. You should always know what it is that you are purchasing so that you can avoid the possibility of buying something that you don’t necessarily need.
